MACOMB, IL – The Macomb Police Department announced that Police Chief Jeff Hamer was one of several law enforcement executives from across the state to participate in the course “Enduring, Surviving, and Thriving as a Law Enforcement Executive” hosted by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board Executive Institute. This orientation for new police chiefs was held on September 12th to 15th in East Peoria, IL.
This new Chief of Police orientation presented concepts, strategies, and information that will help guide the law enforcement executives in managing and leading their organizations effectively.
Chief Hamer received training on a variety of subjects including legal issues, mandated requirements of Illinois Law Enforcement agencies, leadership, wellness, state and federal resources, and political realities. Present were occasions to talk to police chiefs from large and small agencies from around the state, many of whom were attending the session. Several veteran chiefs were part of a panel discussion. Gaining insight and perspective is paramount to this role.
Chief Hamer was also able to catch up with former MPD Chief, current Flossmoor PD Chief, Jerel Jones. Chief Jones extended his appreciation to the Macomb community.
