    THREATS
    Several tornadoes and a few intense tornadoes likely, Widespread damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 90 mph likely, Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events to 4 inches in diameter possible
    SITUATION
    An increasingly volatile environment and very strong atmospheric winds are expected to yield an outbreak of severe storms including tornadoes and widespread damaging winds across the region through the afternoon and early evening. The tornado watch area is approximately along and 110 statute miles east and west of a line from 30 miles south southwest of Ottumwa IA to 50 miles northeast of Mankato MN.     PRECAUTIONS
    A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings.

Residents in Atkinson and Annawan will Remain Without Power Through the Night

A large power outage has been affecting the Atkinson and Annwan areas today, January 21st, since around noon.  The restoration time is 9 AM on Monday, January 22, 2024.  Ameren is working on the outage and will work through the night.  According to the Ameren Outage Map, over 1400 people are without power, and the cause of the outage is damage from an animal.  The Henry County Office of Emergency Management said that Ameren might have a temporary service solution tomorrow morning.  If you need a warming shelter, contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 309-937-3911.  Henry County OEM will monitor the situation through the night and provide updates when they receive them.
