FCC Warns Low Income Illinois Residents Could Lose Affordable Internet Access

SHARE NOW

In a week’s time, The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) won’t accept new enrollments, warns FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel. This could leave more than 694,922 Illinois households at risk of losing affordable internet access. The ACP has connected nearly 23 million households across rural, suburban, and urban areas to the high-speed internet they require for education, work, healthcare, and more. Yet, without further funds, this lifeline could be cut off. A bipartisan group has introduced the Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act, aiming to contribute an additional $7 billion to keep the ACP alive.
