    IMPACTS
    The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

Kewanee Public Works Using ‘Hot Box’ to Fill Potholes

In a significant upgrade for the city’s Public Works, a hot box has been acquired. This equipment will keep repair materials at optimal temperatures for extended periods, enabling Public Works crews to fill more potholes efficiently, without frequent trips back to the yard for refills. With more time on the streets, the City of Kewanee urges all motorists to exercise caution when approaching their work zones.
