    IMPACTS
    The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

Carrol County Deputies Respond to Vehicle Hitting a Tree Report

A tragic one-vehicle accident occurred on Illinois Route 78 between Fairhaven and Thomson Roads, approximately ten miles south of Mount Carroll, reported at 1:48 a.m on Wednesday, February 21st. The vehicle, which held a female driver and four children, struck a tree.

The driver was identified as 36-year-old Kristin M. Dolieslager of Thomson. The woman and the children were transported to area hospitals, two children with possibly life-threatening injuries. Multiple agencies responded to the scene. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. No further information has been released at this point.
