Kewanee Girls Basketball star, Mya Dearing has been honored by being named to the Three Rivers Athletic Conference First Team. Dearing had a terrific season  including12.2 points per game, 4.9 rebounds per game, 3.4 steals per game, 3.2 assists per game, and a half block per game overall. In conference she averaged: 15.3 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 3.3 APG, 3.6 SPG, 0.8 BPG. Coach Nick Christakos speaking to RegionalMediaNews.com stated…

“Mya is a great player who is very tough to guard because of her quickness, but the defense cannot back off of her because she can get in a shooting rhythm very quickly. Her quick hands on defense lead to a lot of steals that start fast breaks, where she is very good at scoring and passing. She will often get open shots for her teammates because she attracts so much of the opponent’s attention. She is a very fun player to coach because you never know what awesome play she is going to come up with next, like her 3/4th court shot she made in the regional game vs Farmington.”

Mya’s best statistical games this year were: 1. 21 points vs Midwest Central at the Brimfield Tournament 2. 20 and 21 points respectively in the two games against Bureau Valley 3. 14 points and 14 rebounds for a double double against Fieldcrest at the St. Bede Holiday Tournament.
