The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that weather permitting, construction will begin on the Illinois 40 bridge over Interstate 88 in Rock Falls and construction on the U.S. 30 bridge over Interstate 88 in Rock Falls.

Work will include joint replacement, installation of a bridge deck overlay and other repairs. Illinois 40 will be reduced to one lane in each direction and all ramps will be open during the $1.3 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in July.

Work will include joint replacement, installation of a bridge deck overlay and other repairs. U.S. 30 will be reduced to one lane in each direction and all ramps will be open during the $1.2 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in July.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
