MACOMB, IL – The City of Macomb and McDonough County held a press conference on Wednesday afternoon to announce that they are recruiting Field Representatives for the Fall 2024 Special Census. They are aiming to hire 60 individuals by the end of May for these temporary positions, which will help ensure an accurate count of residents in targeted areas of the community.

These Field Representatives will conduct door-to-door surveys to ensure accurate counting, offering a chance to make a meaningful impact in the community. Compensation starts at $16.95 per hour for Field Representatives, $21.14 per hour for Field Supervisors, and $16.95 per hour for clerical staff. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, and Field Supervisor and Field Representative candidates must be at least 18 years old.

Participation in the Special Census offers significant benefits to Macomb. For every resident counted, the City could receive approximately $140 in Local Government Distributed Funds, with an additional 1,000 residents potentially bringing in up to $700,000 in funding between 2025-2030. These resources will support community projects and investments.

Ensuring an accurate count is crucial for economic development and grant eligibility. Joining the Census team will help achieve the most comprehensive count possible.
