    SITUATION
    An increasingly volatile environment and very strong atmospheric winds are expected to yield an outbreak of severe storms including tornadoes and widespread damaging winds across the region through the afternoon and early evening. The tornado watch area is approximately along and 110 statute miles east and west of a line from 30 miles south southwest of Ottumwa IA to 50 miles northeast of Mankato MN.     PRECAUTIONS
    A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings.

Sunday Morning Blaze in Galesburg was Determined to be Intentional

In an early morning blaze, the Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1011 E. Brooks Street on Sunday, April 14, 2024. The vigorous response included all three stations and the 11 personnel on duty. Upon their arrival, the crew faced heavy smoke and flames, yet bravely extinguished the fire and ensured no human or pet lives were lost. The structure, sadly, is considered a total loss. Fire Investigators have determined the fire was intentionally set. Investigations are ongoing, and if anyone has information about this incident, they are encouraged to contact the Galesburg Police or Fire Department at 309-343-9151.
