Applications are now being accepted for the ‘Awesome Agriculture Week’ seminar designed specifically for educators ranging from preschool to high school. Scheduled from June 10th to June 13th, 2024, this educational event offers a hands-on approach to learning about agriculture with outings to various farms and agribusinesses across six counties. Attendees have the opportunity to integrate agriculture into their teaching curriculum while earning graduate credits or professional development hours. This initiative aims to enlighten educators on the significance of agriculture in today’s world. Interested educators are encouraged to apply soon to secure their spot.
During the 4-day long session, attendees will travel to several locations around the area, including farms and agribusinesses in Rock Island, Whiteside, Lee, Bureau, Marshall, and Putnam Counties, to gain valuable in-person professional development experiences directly correlated to the curriculum being provided.
The cost for the class is $100 and enrollment is limited to 30 teachers. If a teacher is a Farm Bureau member or signs up as a member, the class costs only $80. Applications are available at the Bureau County Farm Bureau at 815-875-6468. Completed applications are due on May 24th.
