Names Released in Fatal Car Vs. Bicycle Crash on Friday Night

Two Kewanee men have been identified in the fatal car versus bicycle accident south of Kewanee by the Henry County Sheriff’s and Coroner’s Offices Sunday night. Tyler Bliss, 31, was traveling south on Highway 34 when a 2005 Dodge Magnum, driven by Darren Chamberlain, 20, stuck him on his bicycle. Henry County Sheriff’s Office Deputies immediately began life-saving measures at the scene. Tyler Bliss was transported to OSF Saint Luke Medical Center, where he was declared deceased. Darren Chamberlain and his passenger declined medical treatment at the scene.

Chamberlain was issued a citation for Unlawful Overtaking of a Bicycle.

The accident remains under investigation by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit.
