    WHAT
    Very cold wind chills as low as 20 to 30 below expected.
    WHERE
    Portions of north central and northwest Illinois and east central and southeast Iowa.
    WHEN
    From 3 AM to noon CST Monday.
    IMPACTS
    The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in 30 minutes or less. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

Macomb Police Chief Jeff Hamer returns to the studio to chat about some safety initiatives that the Macomb PD will be focusing on this upcoming summer, including making sure drivers are wearing seatbelts and keeping an eye on distracted driving.

Hamer also talks about the MPD’s patrols visiting lemonade stands in the community this summer, “Cops With Freeze Pops”, and the second annual National Night Out.
