How You Help Historic Bishop Hill and the Deteriorating State Owned Buildings

SHARE NOW

The Advocates for Conserving State-Owned Colony Buildings in Bishop Hill, Ill was created to provide contact information for state officials so you can contact them to voice your opinion on saving the state-owned historic properties in Bishop Hill. “If this stirs any kind of emotion in you, please contact State Officials (not local state employees) and urge them to take action immediately, before it’s too late. Some of the state-owned buildings are at a tipping point…” There is a way you can help right now; donate to this goFundMe by the Galva Rotary Club to replace the deteriorated fence. They have raised $12,154 of their $40,000 goal. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has approved the recreation of the park fence by local volunteers, friends, experts, and whomever else can help. “This is an opportunity to show the State that Bishop Hill has a lot of friends who care! How quickly can we raise these needed funds??

IDNR approved the replacement of the fence because it is a “lower funding re-creation” and is not a restoration of the original buildings, like the Colony Church, Hotel, Barn, or Dormitory.
