Moline City Council has greenlighted a transformative initiative to convert downtown’s former Riverstone Group headquarters into a residential hub featuring 32 new market-rate apartments. In collaboration with Renew Moline and Bush Construction, the project will refurbish the 35,000 square foot building originally erected in 1956 for JC Penney. A significant addition to this development is the integration of a daycare center operated by Western Illinois University, enhancing support for working parents. The $6.8 million redevelopment is scheduled to begin later in 2024, with completion expected by the end of 2025. This initiative underscores Moline’s commitment to revitalizing its downtown through strategic partnerships and community-focused projects.
