A 37-year-old Kewanee man is in jail for charges related to the sexual assault and abuse of a minor over whom he held a position of authority, supervision, or trust. Judge Colby Hathaway found probable cause for the arrest of Charles L Doty III on Saturday, May 11th. The state filed a Petition to deny pretrial release on Monday, and Judge James Cosby found that the state had met its burden. Charles L Doty III will remain in pretrial detention. A Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for May 20, 2024, at 1 PM. The defendant is to have no contact with the victim.
Charles Doty III is charged with two (2) counts of Criminal Sexual Assault/Family Member <18 (Class 1 Felony), two (2) counts of Criminal Sexual Assault/Supervision/Vic 13-17 (Class 1 Felony), Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse/Vic<18/Trust (Class 1 Felony), and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse/Vic<18/Family (Class 2 Felony).
