In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Henry and Stark County Health Department and First Choice Healthcare are focusing on the theme “Where to Start – Mental Health in a Changing World.” This initiative highlights the importance of mental wellness in our rapidly evolving environment, emphasizing the challenges and sometimes overwhelming nature of everyday life changes. With startling statistics revealing that 1 in 5 US adults experience mental illness annually, yet less than half receive treatment, the campaign prioritizes education, support, and advocacy. Efforts this May will address the stigma surrounding mental health and advocate for enhanced policy support for those affected and their families. First Choice Healthcare calls on community members to engage in learning and dialogue to better care for their mental health, aiming to reduce the average 11-year delay between the onset of symptoms and treatment.
