Early Thursday morning, a mom and dad woke to hear their daughter screaming in pain and then going into a seizure. Chloe Gruszeczka is the daughter of Shaun and Amber Gruszeczka and she is fighting to live and defying the odds. Chloe was transported to the hospital Thursday morning, where they found a large mass in her brain. She was transported to Peoria by Life Flight and taken straight into surgery to remove the left side of her skull to relieve pressure in her brain from the mass. Chloe has been moving her limbs and her vitals have been great. They are running tests, but there is a large amount of blood in her brain from a hemorrhage, and they can’t determine the exact cause until they can get clear images. Chloe has a long road ahead of her. Everything is uncertain for Chloe and her family at this time. They hope to wean her off the ventilator soon. Shaun said on Facebook, “We are beyond grateful to everyone that has been here for us and everyone that have messaged. We will continue to update as days go on and please know that we are trying to respond to everyone as we can.”
Chloe is only 21 years old and has a lifetime ahead of her. You can help by keeping Chloe in your prayers. A goFundMe has been started to help with medical bills and travel expenses for her family. You can donate here. PhatBoys BBQ is holding a fundraiser on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 11 AM to 2 PM, or until food is gone. All proceeds will go to support the Gruszeczka family. Food will be set up in the parking lot at their new location, 300 West Third Street, Kewanee.
