    Very cold wind chills as low as 20 to 30 below.
    WHERE
    Portions of north central and northwest Illinois and east central and southeast Iowa.
    WHEN
    Until noon CST today.
    IMPACTS
    The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

Sparks Notes – Lars Gossel

Sparks is joined by Lars Gossel of Gossel’s Dog House to talk about weekly volunteering opportunities for people in community to take shelter dogs on walks at the shelter or in the community.

The Humane Society of McDonough County dog walker volunteer group meets at the McDonough County Animal Shelter on Saturdays starting at 9AM, and anyone interested in participating should contact the shelter employees to get more information and sign release forms.
