June 3 to June 9, 2024, Galva Police Department officers were kept on their toes with a range of incidents across the city. Officers responded to varied calls including attempted burglaries, welfare checks, and a series of traffic-related incidents. Notably, an operation in conjunction with Kewanee PD involved crowd control during a sensitive death investigation. There was also an attempt to manage juvenile mischief at Wiley Park and multiple welfare checks that underscored community concerns. The week saw a total of 46 complaints lodged, along with 11 citations issued. Among the notable citations was one to Bonnie Mercer of Cambridge for vehicle registration expiration. Traffic accidents were minimal, recorded at two, underscoring a relatively safe week on the roads in Galva.

Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NW 3rd Ave for an attempted burglary complaint.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NW 4th Street to check the welfare of a subject that had received a telephone scam and was very upset.
Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of SE 1st Street for a 2 vehicle hit-and-run accident with damage only. The suspect car was not located.
Officer was dispatched to the east edge of town to watch for a reckless driver that was reportedly heading towards Galva. Officer saw the suspect vehicle, but did not observe any violations.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of NW 2nd Street for a large tree branch that had fallen.
Officer was dispatched to assist Kewanee PD with a large fight involving officers at Fairview Homes.
Officer was dispatched to an illegally parked vehicle in the 500 block of SE 8th Ave.
Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of NE 2nd Street for a barking dog complaint.
June 4
Officer was dispatched to the area of SE 2nd Ave and SE 3rd Street for a 9-1-1 open line complaint. Officer could not locate anyone needing assistance.
Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of NW 3rd Ave for a physical domestic disturbance and a standby to retrieve personal property.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SE 3rd Street for a 9-1-1 open line call. It was determined to be a child playing with the phone.
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of NE 5th Street for a tree that had fallen across the roadway. The Galva Street Dept was contacted and moved the tree onto the terrace.

Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of SW 3rd Street for a reckless driving complaint. Officer was not able to locate the suspect vehicle.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SE 3rd Ave for a large tree limb that fell onto a neighbor’s car.
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of SW 6th Ave to assist a citizen.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of NW 6th Ave to assist the Galva Water Dept with shutting off a water service.
Officer was dispatched to the NE 6th Ave railroad crossing for a crossing arm malfunction. BNSF was contacted for repairs.
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of NW 5th Street for a low speed vehicle inspection.
June 6
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Market Street for a 9-1-1 hang up call. The subject was driving through the area and reported it was an accidental dial.
Officer was dispatched to Wiley Park to meet a complainant in regards to juvenile mischief. A citizen wanted to report a group of juveniles that were knocking on random doors and then running away.
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of NW 2nd Street for a telephone harassment complaint.
Officer met with a resident at the Galva PD to update their quarterly sex offender registry. The form was completed and emailed to Henry Co for LEADS entry.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of SW 3rd Street for an online scam and threats through electronic communications.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NW 3rd Ave for a welfare check. After checking, it was discovered that the subject was not in the Galva area.

Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Main Street for a burglary complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of NE 1st Ave for a animal abuse complaint. The complaint was unfounded.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of Chester Street for a burglary and criminal damage to property complaint.
While patrolling, officer located a solicitor in the 300 block of SE 6th Street. The solicitor did not have a city permit and was asked to either obtain a permit or leave the area.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4th Street to remove a wheelchair that had rolled out into the roadway.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NE 9th Street for a welfare check.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of SW 3rd Street for a loose dog complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of SE 1st Street for a theft report.
Officer was dispatched to the 1300 block of SE 2nd Street for an obstruction in the roadway. Officer removed a tree branch that was in the lane of traffic.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Market Street for an open door complaint after business hours. An employee arrived and the door was secured.
June 8
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SW 3rd Street for a disturbance complaint. The subject was suffering from a mental health crisis.
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of SW 3rd Street for a hit-and-run accident involving a parked vehicle. A crash report was completed. The suspect vehicle is unknown.
Officer was flagged down by a citizen in the 200 block of NW 8th Ave in reference to a trespassing complaint.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on Olaf Krans Ave to check the welfare of a subject.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SW 3rd Street for a subject having a mental health crisis.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NE 5th Ave for a welfare check. The subject was transported by ambulance.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street, Jorgan Baugher, 22, Moline, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration is suspended for mandatory insurance. He was released with a required court date.
