In Peoria, 43-year-old Jack Lee Nimrick has been sentenced to ten years and one day in federal prison after being found guilty of possessing obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of children. While serving his term of supervised release, United States Probation Officers found Nimrick in possession of an unmonitored and unapproved cellphone. An investigation of the cellphone by Homeland Security agents revealed over 150 computer-generated images and over 50 computer-generated animated videos depicting the sexual abuse of children ranging in age from approximately four years old to teenagers.  Previously convicted in 2015 for distributing child pornography, Nimrick was discovered with prohibited images during his supervised release. Nimrick was on 15 years of supervised release following his release from a nine-year sentence in federal prison.

Nimrick was arrested in October 2023 on supervised release revocation charges, and a federal grand jury returned an indictment in November 2023. He entered a guilty plea to the possession of obscene images charge in March 2024. At the sentencing hearing this week, Nimrick also admitted that he had violated his conditions of supervised release by possessing the illegal images, failing to register his cellphone in accordance with the Sex Offender Registration Notification Act, and failing to comply with the U.S. Probation Office’s Computer and Internet Monitoring Program. Nimrick has remained in the custody of the U.S. Marshals since his arrest. He will serve a three-year term of supervised release upon completion of the term of imprisonment.

The case is part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood initiative, aimed at combating child exploitation.
