Residents in the northeast part of Kewanee will lose water service on June 27th, while a fire hydrant will be replaced after a semi-truck struck the hydrant in the area of East 10th and Kent Street. The fire hydrant is located on the southwest corner of the intersection, and the utility pole located next to the hydrant appears to have been scraped as well. The fire hydrant will be replaced later today, and some residents will lose water while other residents may experience low and/or rusty water. The residents who lose water service will be under a boil order once water service is restored. The City of Kewanee will release more information once they have determined who will lose water.
Once water service is restored, flush the system by running cold water only until the water runs clear.
