A Henry County Sheriff’s Office Deputy shot and killed a dog that was believed to have bitten a person moments earlier on June 27, 2024. Around 2:40 PM, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for a person that a dog had bitten in the 1000 block of 4th Street in Orion. The victim of the dog bite was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital for further treatment.
Henry County Deputies discovered a loose dog in the 900 block of 4th Street that was believed to have bitten the victim a block over. According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the dog displayed aggression near the deputy, and the deputy fatally shot the dog. No one else was injured during the incident. The press release said the dog’s owner was contacted and informed of the incident. Captain Ben Franklin said, “This is an unfortunate incident to report, and our thoughts are with all those involved.”
