Habaneros Mexican Grill & Cantina is set to expand its presence by opening a new location in Genese in October 2024. The restaurant, part of Cruz Enterprises, currently operates in Moline and will begin construction in the Oakwood Avenue strip mall, creating new job opportunities. This expansion is supported by a partnership with BankORION and a $50,000 loan from the Henry County Rural Revolving Loan Fund.
Josue Sanchez, member and manager of Cruz Enterprises, LLC, which owns Habaneros, has been operating his restaurant in Moline at the South Park Mall since 2015. Once he identified a perfect location to expand his business to Geneseo, he leased the space and started the build-out for the new restaurant. This includes an electrical room, the office and bar, a complete floor installation throughout the space, plumbing work, new restaurant-grade equipment, and a complete kitchen build-out.
