A Kewanee Employee Among the Ameren Illinois Employees that Received a Research & Innovation Award

Jeff Berry from the Kewanee Operating Center was among three Ameren employees who received the American Gas Association’s research and innovation award.  Jeff Berry, Scott Lithgow, and Scott Hixson have earned accolades from the American Gas Association for their pioneering safety techniques. They’ve developed a new method to detect natural gas leaks by analyzing customer gas usage data. This innovative approach has proven highly effective, identifying 93 leaks in its inaugural year alone. The method not only boosts safety for customers but also plays a crucial role in averting possible disasters, marking a significant advancement in utility safety protocols. This recognition highlights the importance of innovative thinking in everyday operational safety within the utility sector.
