Kewanee Park District Parks Remain Closed from Tree Damage by Tornadoes

SHARE NOW

The Kewanee Park District announced that Windmont, Chautauqua, and Baker Park Pleasure Drive remain closed due to heavy tree damage from the two tornadoes that struck Kewanee last week. “We are working with our insurance and local tree companies to return the parks to operating condition. However, it will take time as our partners are still trying to remove trees from houses, garages, driveways, etc… around Kewanee. We have asked them to focus on the residents in need and then rotate to us. Our maintenance team is working hard to clean up and also maintain the parks. We appreciate everyone’s understanding in this difficult time for our community. Thank you all for the support.” Baker Park Golf Course was able to reopen thanks to community members who showed up to help last week.

The Park Board meeting from last Thursday was canceled due to no power at the administration building.  The meeting is rescheduled for this week.
