The City of LaSalle Foundation is rolling out its inaugural 815 Day on August 15, 2024, encouraging community involvement through a series of service projects. Key activities include a park cleanup at St. Mary’s, designed to strengthen community bonds and improve the city’s aesthetics. This event is open to everyone, and volunteers are urged to bring along or donate cleaning supplies. No previous experience is required to join in. For more information on how to participate, check out the Foundation’s Facebook page. Let’s come together to make a difference in our community.
Founder Dani Piland said: “Days of service are invaluable ways to bring people together in the interest of supporting the community we all love. Bringing people together on 815 Day gives us an opportunity to make a difference in LaSalle, and we are hopeful this event becomes an annual tradition when we can expect adults and kids to talk about the importance of being good stewards of our community and participate in making it the most beautiful, vibrant, and welcoming place it can be.”
Foundation co-chair Peyton Lamps asks people to RSVP to the event on Facebook to anticipate turnout, increase participation, and best deploy groups for cleanup projects. Questions are welcome.
If you are unable to attend the organized cleanup projects but would still like to participate in 815 Day, simply send photos of your service project to the City of LaSalle Foundation Facebook page. The group will share all demonstrations of volunteerism in LaSalle.
