Wethersfield School District Superintendent, Dr. Andrew Brooks, joined Wake Up Tri-Counties to talk about the school board meeting on Thursday, August 8, 2024. Dr. Brooks estimates the damage from the July 15th tornado to be more than $250,000. The roof of the Blish Building should be completed on Friday. The visitor bleachers on the football field are on order. The damaged bleaches will be repaired to allow them to be used until the new bleachers arrive. The air conditioner unit on the roof over the band room was twisted, allowing water to enter the band room. There was damage to the roof of the cafeteria from solar panels. The high jump and pole vault pads are ordered, but it will be a while before those are delivered. There was approximately $12,000 in tree damage. The fencing around part of the football field will be replaced. The Wethersfield School District was able to get Internet through an Illinois e-rate program for free after this year, which will save the school district about $20,000 a year. Constellation Energy gave the school district a quote for a four-year contract for 4.9 cents per kilowatt for electricity, which will save the school district about $22,000 a year.
