Volunteers Give Hanging Flowers a Makeover before Hog Days

SHARE NOW

About a half dozen volunteers spent Sunday afternoon taking down the hanging baskets to get a makeover before Hog Days.  While two volunteers take down the baskets, Mayor Gary Moore is collecting the baskets and taking them to Sunnyfield Greenhouse and Garden Center for new flowers.  Things like flowers and the flags to make Kewanee beautiful require money and volunteers to make them happen.  Without money and help, nice things are hard to accomplish.  Kewanee High School students did a fantastic job with the flowers, but Mother Nature has been unforgiving this year. Three of the volunteers were Gary and Jeanna’s grandsons, Jaxson, Ryker, and Kyler.  They were happy to lift the flower baskets with Grandpa Gary.

A post on Mayor Gary Moore’s Facebook page, “We are excited to announce the flower baskets will be replaced by Labor Day Weekend! A big thank you and shoutout to SunnyField Farms for helping us accomplish this!#kewaneeproud”

Some of the flowers survived the summer
