Kewanee Back When with Dave Clarke Talks Hog Days and Louie Bellson

SHARE NOW

Dave Clarke joined Wake Up Tri-Counties to talk about some Hog Days history. Dave also talks about famous drummer Louie Bellson and his connection to Kewanee. Louie’s dad had a music store in Kewanee in the 1930s on Second Street.  Louie Bellson’s little sister moved to Kewanee in the 1950s and spent the rest of her life in Kewanee. An article in the Star Courier in May 1971 said that Pearl Bailey was invited to Kewanee Hog Days, but the article didn’t say that Louie was invited. She sent her regrets to the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce because she and Louie would be performing in Lake Tahoe at the time.
