Galva is gearing up for its second cleanup week, set to take place from September 30th to October 5th, 2024. This initiative, open only to city residents, vows to help clean up the community efficiently. Those participating will need to show proof of residency to dispose of their eligible items at the city maintenance yard. Additionally, if transportation poses a challenge, handicapped residents can arrange for items to be picked up. Assistance will only be available from 7 AM to 1 PM on Monday, September 30, Tuesday, October 1st, and Wednesday, October 2nd. They will only come to your residence one time for pickup. Keep in mind that this service won’t accept hazardous materials or restricted items. It’s a great opportunity for locals to declutter and contribute to a cleaner, greener environment in Galva.
Items not accepted are shingles, anti-freeze, LP tanks, yard waste, paint, or any hazardous material. Tires will be accepted for a fee depending on their size.
Televisions and electronic components will be accepted for a fee at Eagle Enterprises during their normal business hours. Their number is 309-932-2936 if you have any questions.
The maintenance yard will be open for extended hours from September 30th to October 3rd from 7 AM to 5 PM to allow better response to clean up. On October 4th, the yard will be open from 7 AM to 3 PM, and on October 5th, from 7 AM to noon.
