Siren Testing of Two New Outdoor Warning Sirens on September 5th and 6th

The City of Kewanee will complete the installation of two new outdoor warning sirens on September 5th and 6th, 2024. Residents may hear intermittent siren activations during these days. A full system test is scheduled for Friday morning between 10 AM and 12 PM after the installation of both sirens is complete. This is only a test, and normal testing will resume on October 1st at 10 AM.

With the updated siren system, the City of Kewanee will be using 4 warning sirens, located at Railroad Ave and See Street, Emmons Ave and Dwight Street, Church and Bronson Streets, and Park and 5th Streets. The sirens currently located at Tenney Street (Sullivan’s Grocery Store) and 3rd Street (Berrian Park) will be decommissioned.
