Hancock County Fights Cancer has generously distributed $46,000 to support cancer research and aid local patients. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital received $18,400 to further its pioneering research, while $27,600 was allocated to HUGS of Hancock County, a vital support group providing financial and emotional assistance to local cancer patients.

Funds were raised through vibrant community efforts including a car show, block party, and the Strawberry Strut run. HUGS treasurer Melita Finney emphasized the importance of community contributions, noting that all funds stay local, offering direct help such as gas and pharmacy cards. Moving forward, the group plans to maintain its donation strategy, continuing to support both impactful organizations.
