Verizon Wireless is experiencing an outage from an unknown cause across the county. The outage is not affecting all phones. Some users reported their phones are in SOS mode and they are unable to make or receive phone calls. According to Henry County 911/ETSB, the problem appears to be linked to the “WiFi Enabled Calling” setting on your device. Users who disable the wifi calling setting appear to regain cellular functionality, although not all users report having the feature turned on, while others said this didn’t work. This issue reportedly does not affect the ability to call 911 emergency services.
According to Verizon’s X account, “We are aware of an issue impacting service for some customers. Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue.” Verizon provided no timeline for restoring service to cellular customers.
