Spanning multiple Illinois counties, David Hammack, 35, and Sara Becker, 43, face serious charges after a spree of vehicle thefts and other crimes. The duo is charged in Knox County with three counts of vehicle theft, fleeing an officer, arson, damage to personal property, and possession of methamphetamine.
The spree began on October 20th, with a stolen side-by-side in Gilson, which was later destroyed by fire following a police chase through a cornfield. Subsequent thefts included a truck and trailer, with sightings captured on FLOCK cameras.
With cooperation from several police departments, including East Peoria and Canton, the suspects were finally apprehended on October 25th, in McDonough County. They were found with yet another stolen vehicle and a camper, confirming their involvement in additional thefts across Fulton and Whiteside Counties. Knox County detectives have recovered all stolen items, and both suspects are now housed in Knox County Jail awaiting further proceedings.
Suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
