Louis Battin was a former teacher, Principal, and Assistant Superintendent for 37 years in the Macomb School District. He started teaching in 1955 in Bardolph and became the Principal of Mac Arthur and Wilson Schools from 1959-1966. He was then the Assistant Superintendent from 1968-1992. Upon his death, a memorial was given to the Macomb Educational Foundation to honor his dedication and many years of service.
Louis was known for his jovial personality. He always started …the first day back to school by proudly announcing, “ This is the ???
year for our Macomb Schools. “
His friendly personality and appreciation for all the staff and students will be remembered forever. He was definitely a people person.
His family has dedicated the memorial money rightly so to Mac Arthur School to purchase new benches for the playground and books for the Library. His daughter, Susan, spoke of his love for children and books and knew he would be very pleased.
