I was subbing at Lincoln today and was in awe of how much Joe’s Lincoln kids love him. “Mr. Pilger, can I have a hug?” and “Mr. Pilger, watch this!” was heard across the playground, and it made me so proud. There are some days his job is really hard, and he comes home feeling defeated that one of his students had a hard day or he couldn’t help another get the services they need. On this day I also knew that he was up for Monmouth Citizen of the Year and was confident he was not going to win, so I shot some videos to remind him that even if he lost, he’s still one incredible human being. And to his surprise, he won. 🥹 I’m so proud of you Joe Pilger. Our community and home are a better place with you in it. ❤️ #proudwife #CitizenoftheYear
