Alice Plate

Alice J. Plate, 88, of Macomb formerly of Adair passed away at 12:15 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2025 at the LaMoine Senior Living Center in Macomb.

She was born on August 23, 1936 in Fulton County, Illinois to William and Zelpha Schrodt Schleich. She was united in marriage to Larry Plate on August 23, 1952. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2024.

Alice was a homemaker and worked right beside Larry doing chores, driving tractors, working in the fields, helping him grow the farm for over 50 years in Hancock, McDonough, and Fulton Counties. Alice was also a Sunday school teacher early in her marriage. Later in life she started her own business, Plate Real Estate, where she was very successful and received many awards.

Alice is survived by three of her children, Patsy (David) Leezeer of St. Charles, Missouri, Larry Joe Plate of Niota, Illinois, and Rose (Randy) Scheetz of Carthage, Illinois; 11 grandchildren, Susi Plate (Nick Swartz) Boyles, Jamie Plate Boyles, Chris (Cathy) Plate, Jared (Brandy) Plate, Joshua (Melissa) Plate, Elizabeth (Andy) Pilkington, Nathan (Savannah) Leezer, Krista (Justin) Carle, Lezley (Nick) Anderson, Paul Scheetz, and Dan (Bethany) Scheetz; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Jane Schleich.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Steve Plate; one granddaughter, Shelly Plate Boyles; three brothers, Robert, Ralph and Charles Schleich, and four sisters, Rose Gianessi, Ruth Quigley, Joyce Kinne and Audrey Schleich.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb. A grave side service will be held at 2:30 p.m..Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Pennington Point Cemetery in New Salem Township west of Adair with Father Tony Trosley officiating. Songs will be sung by Allen Lester. Readings will be done by Lezley Anderson and Dan Scheetz.

Pallbearers will be Chris, Jared, Joshua Plate, Jamie Plate Boyles, Nathan Leezer, Dan and Paul Scheetz.
