1952-2025
Patricia was born August 22, 1952, to the union of Eleanor Young and Nathaniel Young, Jr. Her mother, Eleanor Young, her father, Nathaniel Young, Jr, her sister, Jean Marie, and her sister, Yvonne, preceded her in death.
Patricia graduated from Joseph Medill Elementary School and Lucy Flowers High School, both in Chicago, IL.
Patricia went on to higher levels of education, receiving her B.A. degree in June 1974 and M.A. Degree, both from Southern Illinois University, in 1976. Lastly, Patricia completed her PhD from Bowling Green State University in 1986.
Patricia truly valued the importance of education. She served as a college professor her entire career, most of which was spent as an English professor at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL, for over 35 years.
Additionally, Patricia crossed over into the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in 1973 and remained active until her passing.
Patricia’s loves were theater, writing, indoor gardening, walking with neighbors, and last but certainly not least, enjoying a good quesadilla and margarita. Patricia was an active church member at Macomb Assembly of God for many years.
She is survived by an aunt, many cousins, and a host of friends and colleagues. Patricia went home to be with the Lord on March 27, 2025.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the Macomb Assembly of God Church with Pastor Mike Williams officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
