Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a shooting at 1 South Ogle, Apartment 13, in Mount Morris just after 5:00 PM Monday. Authorities found 25-year-old Cameron Pasley inside with multiple gunshot wounds—he was transported to Saint Katherine’s OSF in Dixon but died from his injuries.
The suspected shooter, 44-year-old Derek Swanlund, was located nearby and taken into custody without resistance. Swanlund faces a first-degree murder charge and may see further charges as the investigation continues. Multiple agencies, including state police and fire personnel, assisted Mount Morris Police at the scene. The incident remains under active investigation.
