On Wednesday, April 30th, at approximately 3:36 PM, the Whiteside County 911 Center received a report of a traffic crash in the 18000 block of Lomax Road involving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a dirt bike (motorcycle).
Upon arrival, deputies located a 13–year–old male who was unresponsive at the scene. Deputies and Emergency Medical Personnel rendered immediate medical aid; however, the juvenile ultimately succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
Preliminary investigation determined that a black Ford Edge, driven by Tara Fettig, age 60, of Tampico, was traveling eastbound on Lomax Road. The dirt bike, a 125cc Kawasaki operated by the juvenile, had entered the roadway from a private driveway at the time of the collision.
The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Prophetstown Police Department, Prophetstown Fire and Ambulance, Illinois State Police, Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police, Whiteside County Coroner’s Office, and Randy’s Towing.
The incident remains under investigation by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit.
