Katyn Newburgh, a registered nurse in the CGH Critical Care Unit, has been honored with the DAISY Award, a recognition given internationally to nurses who demonstrate exceptional compassion and dedication.
Katyn’s remarkable care was highlighted by a family whose mother passed away on Christmas morning after receiving constant support, advocacy, and empathy from Katyn. When the family’s father was later admitted, Katyn continued to show heartfelt compassion, helping him cope with his grief. The DAISY Award program, established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, continues to celebrate the ongoing impact nurses like Katyn have on patients and families.
