Spoon River College celebrated its 64th Commencement at the Canton Campus, awarding 430 degrees and certificates, with 173 students participating in Thursday’s ceremony. President Dr. Curt Oldfield congratulated graduates, emphasizing their perseverance and the support from family and friends. Special recognition went to high-achieving students, including Phi Theta Kappa honorees and military service members.
Six high school students earned college degrees prior to their own high school graduations. Student Achievement Awards went to Amanda Koll and Alyssa Gilstrap, while Ryleigh Moser and Shyler White received Pay It Forward scholarships. Faculty members Rebecca Werland and Sarah Etter were also honored.
