1944-2025
Robert William Allen, 80 of Macomb passed away at 4:11 p.m. on May 24, 2025 at Wesley Village in Macomb.
He was born on December 15, 1944 the son of Josephine Lowe Allen and Charles Robert Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents. Robert was born in a farmhouse two miles outside of Good Hope, Illinois. He lived on the homestead until early 1980s when he moved with his mother to Good Hope. After his mother passed away he moved to Wesley Village in Macomb, Illinois where he has lived for the past 16 years.
Robert was a lifelong active member of the United Methodist Church in Good Hope and loved being involved in many activities with the church such as choir and missions. He also was very active in the 4H during his high school years and won may ribbons.
Robert graduated from Northwester High School in 1963. After high school he attended training in computer data systems. Robert was involved in the operations of the Laundromat in Good Hope and was also a salesman for Amway.
Robert will always be remembered for his big smile and the quick handshake he offered to all that he met. Robert loved his mother’s cooking and he was always the first in line for dessert. His life was a challenge from birth but he never let his disability hold him back. His philosophy of life can be summed up in the old saying, “if life gives
you lemons, make lemonade”. Robert is now at peace and will be looking down on us with that big smile, enjoying his favorite dessert of bread pudding and cream and radiating a very positive attitude.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Private entombment of his ashes will be held at Oakwood Abbey Mausoleum in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Good Hope United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2025 with Pastor Imelda Ramos officiating. A meal will follow at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Good Hope United Methodist Church or Wesley Village.
