State Representative Dan Swanson (R-Alpha) launched his re-election campaign for the 71st State House District, Illinois House of Representatives.
“I have stood strong in opposing budgets which include pay hikes for politicians and which overspend. Illinois families deserve safe communities, educational freedom, and opportunities to grow their families here in Illinois. They deserve a state government free from corruption. Taxpayers don’t deserve the unethical, immoral, tax-and-spend attitude they get from many of our state’s Chicago politicians,” said Swanson.
A farmer who served nearly 30 years in the United States military, Dan Swanson has been successful in passing dozens of bills improving veterans’ services, rural healthcare access, has worked to drive down costs for families and supported family farmers.
Swanson’s 71st District includes numerous community and private colleges across West-Central Illinois, as well as the main campus of Western Illinois University in Macomb. A supporter of higher education and the AIM HIGH grant program, Swanson says this scholarship program provides merit-based scholarships to U.S. citizens attending in-state universities and helps our students avoid more college debt.
Swanson continued, “I have been honored, over the past year, to serve as the only Republican Committee Chair in the Illinois House. To be trusted by both Democrats and Republicans to do the right thing with the Veterans Affairs Committee has been a heartfelt responsibility which I have taken seriously.”
“This is no time for on-the-job training for those with ambitions more hardened than their hands. Hardworking families in Western Illinois need a fighter. I’m running for re-election because there’s much more work to do. It’s going to take someone who is Swanson Strong to get the job done. I want the voters of Western Illinois to know I am fighting for their values and ask for their continued support,” Swanson concluded.
The 71st State House District stretches from the Quad Cities area, through portions of Henry and Mercer County to Galesburg/Knoxville, Monmouth, and Macomb.
Dan Swanson helps run his 6th generation Swanson family farm near Andover, Illinois. He and his wife Tammy attend the Alpha Baptist Church. They have two married sons and 2 grandchildren.
