Geneseo Man Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison for Stabbing his Father

A Geneseo man was sentenced to over a decade in prison for aggravated battery of his father during a domestic incident. David Boan pleaded guilty to an amended count for aggravated battery/great bodily harm/torture, which is a Class 1 felony. On July 13, 2024, the Geneseo Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance on South Congress Street near the front of the house between a father and son. Upon arrival, officers located the son, David Boan, standing near the front of the house, and his father, Eugene Boan, near the end of the driveway, bleeding from his head. David told officers that he stabbed Eugene multiple times. A bloody knife was located in the garage. Eugene told officers that he had to “pull the knife out of the wound in his head.” Paramedics located six slash wounds on Eugene’s head and upper body, three of which were to his head.

David Boad received credit for 303 days in the Henry County Jail, day-for-day credit on the sentence, a $75 fine, and one year of mandatory supervised release.

The attempted murder and two counts of aggravated battery were dismissed. A separate misdemeanor battery case was also dismissed.

David Boan was originally charged with Attempted First Degree Murder (Class M Felony), Aggravated Battery/Great Bodily Harm (Class 3 Felony), and Aggravated Battery/Victim 60+ (Class 3 Felony).
