Live music enthusiasts can look forward to a brand-new concert series launching at College Square Park in Cambridge. The series will kick off Thursday, August 28th, featuring Half Catholic and chrash, and continue Thursday, September 11th, with Jerm Theory and Zach Pietrini. All shows are free, begin at 6:30 PM, and spotlight local and regional talent. After years of planning and park improvements, Logan Meier steps up as the series’ lead organizer, thanks to support from Crossroads Cultural Connections and the local community. Organizers hope this marks the start of a lasting musical tradition in Cambridge.
John Taylor said in a Facebook post, “Long story short, I have been wanting to do something like this for a while, and have done some one-off shows at College Square Park, but it has taken some time to get to the point where we could launch this.”
A five-year journey to revitalize live music in Cambridge is reaching an exciting milestone. Following the construction of a bandstand and park upgrades—new sidewalks, lighting, and sound equipment—organizers faced their toughest challenge: finding someone to run the concert series. That changed when Logan Meier stepped up, thanks in part to a Youth Employment in the Arts grant through Crossroads Cultural Connections. After months of training, Logan is now leading the effort, ensuring sustainability for live music in the village. Community members are encouraged to join in and help keep the music playing for years to come. Hear more about the new Cambridge Music Series in the August edition of “Cambridge Happenings.”
