Four-Vehicle Crash Involving Commercial Truck on Illinois Route 84

At approximately 6:15 AM on Monday, July 21st, the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting a fourvehicle traffic crash on Illinois Route 84 near the intersection of Lock Road in rural Fulton

An initial investigation by responding deputies and the Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit revealed that a white Freightliner bucket truck owned by MidAmerican Energy and driven by 27yearold Nathan Brown of Elizabeth was traveling northbound on Route 84, just south of Lock Road. The truck crossed the center line and entered the southbound lane, where it struck two oncoming vehiclesa black Kia sedan and a white Buick crossover. 

A silver Dodge crossover, also southbound, then struck the engine of the Kia, which had become detached during the initial collision

The driver of the Kia sedan was airlifted from the scene with nonlifethreatening injuries. The driver of the Buick was also transported by ambulance with nonlifethreatening injuries. The driver of the Dodge was not reported injured. Nathan Brown was cited for Improper Lane Usage. 

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit

The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Fulton Police Department, Fulton Fire & EMS, Thomson Fire & EMS, MedForce Air Medical Transport, Downtown Auto Clinic, J&S Body Shop, and the Illinois Department of Transportation
