Residents in Geneseo and Kewanee will soon benefit from expanded orthopedic care, as Dr. Ryan Pizinger joins Hammond-Henry Hospital this fall. With more than two decades of expertise in joint care, sports medicine, and joint replacement procedures, Dr. Pizinger will provide full-time surgical services at the hospital and see patients at both the Geneseo and Kewanee Clinics. Hospital officials highlight that his arrival enhances access to specialized orthopedic treatment within the community, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for care.

Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo is expanding its orthopedic care this fall with the addition of Dr. Ryan Pizinger, a board-certified surgeon specializing in sports medicine, joint and anterior hip replacement, shoulder reconstruction, and arthroscopy. Dr. Pizinger brings experience from SSM Health in Wisconsin and the Illinois Orthopedic Institute and will see patients at both the Geneseo and Kewanee clinics. His office will be located on the hospital’s first floor in Suite 110, and appointments can be scheduled without a referral by calling 309-944-1595. An open house welcoming Dr. Pizinger will be announced soon.

Dr. Pizinger, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, is joining the local medical community with extensive training, including a sports medicine fellowship from Aspen Orthopaedic Associates and a surgical residency at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. He attended the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in pre-med, completing minors in microbiology and chemistry. Dr. Pizinger will be available to see patients Monday through Friday. Outside the clinic, he enjoys time with his wife, Jackie, and their two children, Shae and Samantha.

“Dr. Pizinger has more than 20 years of experience in orthopedic surgery, and we are thrilled he has roots in Illinois (Yorkville area) and wanted to come back,” said Colton Anderson, Director of Physician Recruitment and Clinic Services. “He specializes in total joint care and is highly experienced in total joint replacement operations, including the newer anterior hip replacement techniques. Having an orthopedic surgeon of our own is very important for advancing this service for our patients. Dr. Pizinger will be a wonderful addition to our staff.”

“I like giving my patients full autonomy in what they choose to do as far as treatment goes. Allowing them to make an informed decision that they are comfortable with is very important,” said Dr. Pizinger. “I ensure they fully understand the diagnosis and all options for treatment. What I like best, though, is fixing a problem and having that patient be happy and pleased with the outcome. It feels good to be part of that process.”

“I am excited to have this opportunity to serve this rural community in western Illinois, and I hope to see many years of treating people here,” said Dr. Pizinger.
