The Buddy Walk Kewanee has announced the approval of a grant for the Henry Stark Special Education Life Skills classroom—marking its second consecutive year of support. For the 2025 school year, this grant will supply eight flexible seating items tailored for students with developmental disabilities such as Down Syndrome, Autism, and Developmental Delays. These adaptive seats aim to create a classroom environment that better supports diverse learning needs. Organizers credit the generosity of the community—including sponsors, fundraisers, volunteers, and donors—for making resources like this possible, highlighting the power of local involvement in education.

“It is because of the generous people of our community partaking in this event, whether being a sponsor, building a team to fundraise, providing in kind donations, volunteering or more makes sharing this awesome news even more impactful!”

The Buddy Walk Kewanee team is expressing gratitude to their generous sponsors, whose support is making a tangible difference for individuals with Down syndrome. Organizers emphasize that, thanks to community backing, the event continues to grow in impact and reach. There’s still a chance to become a sponsor, with the deadline set for August 31st. Those interested are encouraged to connect via the Buddy Walk Kewanee Facebook page or by email at [email protected]. Organizers invite everyone to help make this year’s Buddy Walk an unforgettable celebration of inclusion and community spirit. Registration for the 2025 Buddy Walk is at 9 AM on October 4, 2025, and the walk/run begins at 10 AM.
