The Illinois Conservation Foundation is marking a major milestone with a new limited-edition poster series highlighting a century of state parks. Featuring acclaimed sites such as Starved Rock and Giant City, the collection celebrates 100 years of natural beauty and outdoor recreation. Twelve parks are showcased across the series. Funds raised from poster and sticker sales will be devoted to improvements and enhancements throughout the Illinois park system. The commemorative items can be found at the Illinois State Fair or purchased online while quantities last. This unique initiative aims to preserve and promote the state’s treasured landscapes for future generations.
“This series is a powerful tribute to the places that have shaped Illinois’ natural identity over the past 100 years,” said Natalie Phelps Finnie, director of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), which is celebrating its centennial in 2025. “These parks and historic sites belong to all of us here in Illinois, and IDNR proud to celebrate their legacy through art that invites a new generation to explore and protect them.”
Featuring twelve iconic locations—such as Starved Rock, Giant City, New Salem, and Pere Marquette—these vibrant posters honor the state’s natural heritage. For ten dollars each, four posters will be available at the Conservation World welcome tent during the Illinois State Fair, running August 7th through 17th. Additional poster designs and sticker packs, including some requiring pre-order, are also offered online. All proceeds from the sales are dedicated to making improvements across Illinois parks, ensuring lasting enjoyment for future generations.
“You can buy a lot of things at the fair. This one makes a difference,” said Jenny Vaughn, executive director of the Illinois Conservation Foundation. “These posters are more than souvenirs. They help fund real conservation work and support the places we all love.”
